Good Read
I think I'm going to ad THIS blog to my list of regular reads. She witty and a good writer. Thanks to the Gut-Dude for helping me find this blog.
Everyone is talking about the blackout that effected New York, Ohio, Michigan and Ontario. Frankly for good reason! It's big news. A major event. So when did I find out? Yesterday on the radio? On the news? CNN? CNBC? BBC?? No, none of those.
I found out late this afternoon from a coworker who asked me if I thought it had affected the Internet.
I never turned the TV on yesterday. I listen to the radio in the morning, but they never mentioned anything about it Thursday morning. I'm not sure when the blackout even occured. Sheesh. On the way home I listen to CDs rather than the radio so I missed any chance to hear it there either.
This whole thing has me wondering if I'm at a disadvantage because I'm out of touch with what is going on. Either that or I'm better off because I'm not sucked into sensationalistic journalism and the speculations and rumors that have begun to be subsituted for real news. Not to suggest that the power outage didn't happen, it's clear it has, but I've been reading about all kinds of "answers" to what caused the blackout and whos fault it is. Good god it's a friggin mud-slinging party going on! Reporters should not be reporting speculations or unproven 'facts'. It's poor journalism and causes more confusion than is needed.
End of Rant.
I think I better watch the news every once in awhile, even if its only for 5 minutes on Headline News or something.
The Denis Leary roast SUCKED! There were a few laughs, but mostly it was no-name comics, "buddies" of Leary, giving him shit about his bad movies. Give me a break. The only real funny guy was the gay friend from college. He was a bit rough with Liz Hurley though. Granted she had to have expected a little flak, but his comments weren't so much funny as they were rude.
This is supposed to be the first of many other roasts. God I hope they are better than this! I dunno if the others will even get off the ground after this one.
Well that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are other less interesting, more mundane things, like eat and use the bathroom, but I really doubt you'd really want to hear all about that.
Ok I fucked up. I didn't backup a database I was working on. The work I did didn't quite work as planned. Now I'll be spending the rest of the evening here at work fixing it. UGGGGGHHHH!!!
Ok so I started a database integrity check and repair, which takes awhile, so I knew i'd be fine to get some dinner. I walked over to Wendy's, only a few blocks away. The walk was good, it helped calm me down. It's a pretty evening, not too hot.
I got my dinner and they got my order correct, no problem there.
As I'm walking back I hear a dripping noise, I look up and there are a ton of little birds roosting on the electrical wires. "Oh crap!", I think. Oh crap is right. I didn't make it out in time. Splat right on my right arm, from my shoulder all the way down my arm. UGH!!! What really pisses me off is that I was wearing a very light colored shirt. I got into my office building and washed it all off in the bathroom sink, but I'm afraid it'll stain.
If it stains, I think i'm gonna feed the birds PopRocks! Little bastards!!!
